Gorgeous illustrations. We had stewed pears at Christmas, but ours were in spiced red wine – I wonder if Mrs Beeton’s were too!

I'm happy you posted these, because living over here, I just didn't really know the name, Mrs. Beeton….she is surely much like our Betty Crocker maybe! Nice post!
The illustrations are really wonderful. I prefer them to the modern style of photographs.
I love Mrs. Beeton. I posted her plum pudding recipe last month for stir up Sunday. Her book is such a treasure! Love the illustrations.
