Despite the name of this blog I am not an angler. My husband is, as was his father and grandfather before him. We have a variety of antique fishing tackle that we have either purchased or inherited from my husband’s family. This week I am going to show a few angling postcards; we don’t have any old family angling photos and finish on a modern fishing note.
Hubby tells me that the most wonderful thing he wants to see is to see a leaping salmon along the River Tay. We always joke, as he leaves the house with excitement, a flask of tea and a selection of food and huge amounts of tackle, that I always say “catch a monster!” Here are a few examples proving that he does occasionally catch a monster!

Thanks for stopping by everyone. Yes, these guys were huge and we were eating trout for weeks and weeks! Sad to say that these guys were in wild and we fishery bred. Hubby frequents one particular fishery because of how they look after the fish.

I have to admit to being a bit horrified by the gasping fish, but love the waterfall.
I can't even kill spiders. I have bug jars all over the house to grab them and set them free outside.
But even though gasping their last, they are beautiful.

Like you, I know nothing about angling, but I do know a big fish when I see one! No wonder hubby looks pleased. And what a catch, to have some vintage postcards with angling scenes.

Great catches all of them. I did see a man catch a monster salmon once years ago. It was in Norway and the salmon was huge, the chap who caught it had to hold it up high to avoid it's tail touching the ground.

What fun! I love to fish, but rarely get the chance, and have never gotten the big one. Sigh…maybe when the hubs retires!
