I posted the photograph to our site on Flickr and also to the BSA photo group and after a period of four years, someone posted that the model was a BSA C12G.

Isn’t the web marvellous for quests like this – even if it did take so long? I can only agree with the others, that he was a fine-looking chap and very smart too.

He looked pretty dashing there. Just hand a man some wheels and he's happy like a little schoolboy.

Isn't the net great? Information at our fingertips that in the past we might have never found.
Very fun photo of your father.

First of all a belated welcome to Sepia Saturday : sorry I missed your post from last week but I have tracked back and read it now. Our parents obviously shared a love of motorbikes for I have a whole collection of such shots featuring my mother and father. Looking forward to future Sepia Saturday posts.

He looks very happy on his motorcycle…good luck in finding another one…if you search long enough I'm sure you'll find one like it…or very close to it!

1958 was the year when I started my National Service in the Army – Catterick in December was a rude awakening. I never got anywhere near a motorbike but admired the Signals Display Team from afar.
The Sergeant Major would have approved how you father-in-law wore his beret – cap badge above the eye.

Fab photo, Julie.
Brings back memories of days gone by, tho not quite that far back for me. LOL
My grandad always wore overalls and a beret around the house and garden at weekends.
I have a photo of my dad in his drainpipe suit and brylcreemed hair posing with his first motorbike.
