Surname Tips

Copyright – Julie Goucher 2019

Today’s tip is to read a copy of the newly published Surname Research Guide. I wrote the initial version back in February 2019. The booklet was circulated with Family Tree Magazine (UK), March edition as a way of the Guild of One-Name Studies celebrating it’s 40th anniversary.

The booklet was also circulated at a variety of events, both in the UK and elsewhere. The magazine sadly has none of the magazines available, but the there are electronic versions for purchase on the magazine’s website.

I was then asked if I would produce a slightly longer version for the Guild which could be used as part of the welcome pack sent to new members. I agreed.

That version contains some material from the Guild website, some from articles I have written and published both on this site and via my Family Tree Magazine 2019 surname series.

Cover for Surname bookletThe booklet, in PDF format is to be available to members of the Guild of One-Name Studies free of charge via the Resources section of the Members’ Room on the website. Physical copies are available from the Guild, or will be in the next week or so or via Amazon. All royalties from the booklet are going to the Guild, which is a registered Charity in England and Wales.
