Puttenham and Neighbouring Parishes

It is really important to understand the location, in particular if you have lost someone! Think back to rural England before the world of cars or even bicycles. People would walk or perhaps use a pony and trap. They would have walked across the fields and thus the nearby parishes are perhaps closer than we might think.

When researching Puttenham people I consider the market towns of Farnham, Godalming and Guildford. Rural parishes are Wanborough, Elstead, Peper Harrow, Shackleford, Tongham, Seale, Worplesdon, Alton and Normandy. These are just a few places. In some instances, others have moved further a field, and perhaps not the most obvious parishes.

Given the proximity of Wanborough and my own family connection to the parish there is some Wanborough material within the Puttenham study.
