Introducing A-Z Challenge 2020

Specialised Studies

Commencing 1st April, subscribers and readers will be seeing posts every day (apart from Sunday) about Specialised Studies.

A specialised study is a project or study based upon something specific. Each of the posts will be based upon the loose theme of genealogy and local history, each one accompanied by at least one resource that you might find useful, whether or not you are focusing on the actual study shown. For those working on a One-Name Study you should find the series useful as it will give you further opportunities to search for individuals!

Over the course of the month, we shall meander through the alphabet, starting with A on 1st and ending with Z on 30th, by which time I shall likely be in need of a rest!

I hope you enjoy the series and please, do comment!

I’ve joined up too – did it last year on my genealogy study but didn’t quite make the 26 posts (I got sidetracked by doing too much research). This year I’m choosing a different theme entirely and going for book blogging tips….

    • I know the issue with distraction with research. I follow you on your book blog, though I comment rarely and often read it when the post is weeks old. I will stop by though as I am relying on reading your tips for improvement! I have been working on this theme for A-Z since about last August and write the bulk of the post then place in draft. I am trying to read them again then scheduling, so far 1 down, 25 to go!

You’re clearly far more efficient than I am to have started prepping for this in August. I had grand plans at the weekend to write four posts so I could get ahead of myself. It never happened

        • I had the idea in August and then worked out what I would cover over the month. Then I started writing about mid September and did not do them in order, just as I felt like it. The last post was written about early to mid January.
